I just recently bought a yashica super 800 electro and i saw a dejur 940 8mm projector. I think it's a regular 8mm projector. Would I still be able to project super 8mm film on the regular projector? if not why not? what's the difference? and If i do, would I have to do anything special? If anyone could answer my question that would be great, im just starting out.

If it's a regualr 8 projector the chances that you can show super 8 film on it are nil. If it's a dual 8 projector there should be a switch somewhere that allows you to change between regular 8 and super 8. If there is a sprocket wheel it is unlikely to be a dual 8. You cannot show super 8 on a regular 8 projector because:
1) The pitch (center to center distance of the perfs) is 0.15 inch. For super 8 it is 0.167 inch.
2) As small as this difference is it is probably enough to keep the film from rolling across the sprocket wheel smoothly.
3) The regular 8 perfs are wider than super 8 perfs, therefore the sprocket teeth and the claw are likely to be too wide to fit into the super 8 perf.
4) In spite of all the above it is just possible that the film will fit around the sprocket wheel (if there is one) just tightly enough to get by and the sprocket teeth and the claw may be narrow enough to get inside the perfs. One last obstacle remains. In regular 8 the perf are at the frame line. In super 8 they are centered on the frame. So if you can project super 8 in the reg 8 projector the frame line will be across the center of the screen with bottom half of the picture in top half of the screen and the top half of the picture in the bottom half of the screen.
